My 27th Birthday

On Wednesday, January 26, I will turn 27 years old...  and it seems like yesterday I was just a child.  Where does the time go?  When did I suddenly become old enough to have a child of my own?
They say, "time flies when you're having fun," and this is certainly true, but time also marches on more quickly the older I get.    This year, I will experience something I never have before and never will again...  the birth of our first child.  What a blessing!  I must say, #27 is going to be extra special.  I am pleading with time to slow down just a bit this year - and pause at times - so that I can fully enjoy the precious moments soon to come.  :)

I celebrated my birthday with family at Connor's Steakhouse in Huntsville.  Each year's birthday celebration seems better that the last!  I love my sweet family and I am so thankful for all of you.

The "Happy Birthday" platter is mine this week! :)

Allison and Alan gave the perfect gift -- a 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial!  They know how busy life has been lately and have seen how stressful (but fun!) it is to plan for a baby.  They knew just what I needed and I am going to absolutely love being pampered!  Thank you and I am glad y'all were able to celebrate with me!

I love Granny's homemade chocolate cake more than anything in the world.  So, my birthday cake came straight from her kitchen, topped with 27 candles!

Wonderful birthday celebration!  Looking forward to an awesome year ahead...

23 Weeks and Growing

As of tomorrow, I will be 23 weeks along -- over halfway there!  We had an appointment today and everything is progressing perfectly.  My sweet baby girl is growing and she is quite the wiggle worm! :)  It is amazing to see and feel her little movements.  She is not the only one growing --  I have now gained 6 pounds, and I finally have a baby bump worth sharing...

The month of May is approaching quickly and we can hardly wait!

Smocking Birds

After hearing the news, "You are having a girl," I knew smocking classes were in my near future.  Yes I, who have never threaded a needle, am attempting to learn how to smock.  My sister will be taking the classes along with me.  We are quite the "Smocking Birds!" :)  I must say, it is an addictive hobby -- after our first basic smocking class last night, I cannot put down the needle and thread -- as if I needed one more thing to keep me busy :)  The Smocking Bird in Homewood offers the class (www.thesmockingbird.com).  We will start on our projects next week -- smocked bishop daygowns for the sweet baby girl.  Our goal is to have completed the gowns before she arrives in May.  Wish us luck and lots of patience!  I will keep you posted on our progress.  Happy Smocking!!

I am still tickled pink at the news of a having a baby girl!  In keeping with the smocking theme, here is a smocked Christmas dress I bought last week at Once Upon A Time.  She won't be able to wear this dress until her second Christmas, but I couldn't resist the dress or the sale price!  :)
