What do these 3 have in common? Well, they were all apart of our weekend, which was busy once again but fun nonetheless. On Friday morning, Anna Scott had her 3 month pictures made. I will view the proofs soon and am so anxious to see how they turned out! I think she made some pretty ones.
Friday night, Scott and I went to the Arab High School
football game for old time's sake. We had a great time! We left the game happy about Arab's win but sad about feeling old. We were amazed at how young the football players and cheerleaders seemed compared to how old we felt when we were that age. It feels like just yesterday we were high school sweethearts. Now, Scott is 30 years old, and this coming May will mark my 10 year high school reunion! Really, where does the time go? And to think it will only go by faster and faster...
Saturday morning, Scott and I participated in the 5k race at the Arab City Park put on by several churches in the community. The race started at 8:00 am, and the weather was so nice (almost felt like Fall). There were 50 people in the race. Scott came in 11th place overall and I in 12th (which means I did pretty good!) No, I didn't beat Scott, but believe it or not, I won the women's division! I have never been known to be fast, but I was proud of my average time - 8:18 per mile. Scott and I will probably never be this close in rank again, so I made sure to grab a copy of the results to save as a keepsake. :) I got lots of goodies for winning including a
1st place ribbon, several coupons and a runner's travel bag. Needless to say, this was a good start to my Saturday!
Next on our agenda was the kickoff event for the Arab First Baptist Church Singing
Christmas Tree! Each year, the choir meets the last Saturday in August to hear the music for that year's tree and have lunch afterwards. Scott and I enjoy being a part of the tree each year. It has become a tradition for us. Though it is a bit odd to hear the Christmas tunes in August :), the songs for this year's performance are beautiful. Be sure to reserve a ticket when they become available. You will not want to miss the music or the message.
Saturday afternoon, we traveled to Oneonta for Scott's cousin Kelsey's birthday party, then went back to Arab for dinner with my family. After all of the action on Saturday, I was drained. But, I was not the only one... Anna Scott slept from 8:00p on Saturday until 7:00a on Sunday without a single budge.
Sunday was indeed a day of much needed rest. On Sunday afternoon, we visited with my friend Holli and her little boy Griffin (who is now 14 months old). Griffin provided all the entertainment while Anna Scott paid him no attention. She threw her little arms up, turned her head to the side, and caught a nap. I apologized to Griffin and told him Anna Scott would be much more fun during the next visit. He forgave her and shared his sweet hugs and kisses on our way out the door.
In our in-between time, we made sure all of our family members got to spend a little time with Anna Scott. Everyone wants to see her... every single weekend... (and I can't blame them), so we try to make that happen if at all possible. Anna Scott was asleep by 7:30 last night and slept until 6:00 this morning. Then, she woke up for 30 minutes to take a bottle, only to fall back asleep until 9:45. She slept so long I started to miss her. I think these busy weekends are catching up with someone besides myself! :)
So, I was beginning to think that our weekends had become busier than our weeks, but this week is going to prove me wrong. I will be doing my Senior OSCE, finishing up my residency application, viewing picture proofs, attending a friend's birthday dinner, hosting the football kickoff party and finally, heading to Tuscaloosa. Anna Scott has a busy week ahead as well. She is learning "All about Big AL" and preparing for what will be her very first football season! I think the Crimson Tide has a new biggest fan...
