FIRST Birthday Party!

You only turn 1 year old once, and I believe that it should be a BIG deal.  I have always heard that the big birthdays are one, sixteen and twenty-one.  So, this means I have a 15 year break from party planning!  :)

Anna Scott's first birthday party was at my parents' house in Arab.  Thanks Mom and Dad for opening your beautiful home and your help getting everything ready.  The party didn't really have a theme, but we used touches of pink gingham, her monogram, and the number "1" throughout.  I wanted a (mostly) outdoor party, because Anna Scott loves to be outdoors.  Although the forecast predicted rain at exactly party time, it actually turned out to be a beautiful couple of hours!  Again, thank you Mark Brock and Jordan Walker for the wonderful pictures of Anna Scott's special day!

Steve Brannon of Fairview Florist did the flowers.  He did a wonderful job, as always!

You'll see a theme throughout this post.  Scott's mom is very talented and helped me with a lot of the decorations, favors, banners, candies, favor tags, etc.  She made all of the linens, including this beautiful linen for the foyer table.  I almost used this in the nursery, but it just didn't go.  I was happy to get to use it at her party!

I ordered her birthday plate from Etsy.

Invitation...

Number "1" cookie favors from Icing on the Cookie.

I got these gingham birthday hats (as well as Anna Scott's) from Etsy.

There was a wish tree in the foyer for guests to hang their wishes for the birthday girl...

Scott's mom made these cute little wish tags, complete with one birthday candle.

These favor boxes were used to fill with goodies from the candy table.

The eating tables were so sweet.  I loved the pink gingham runners and the napkins/napkin rings.  I also loved the moss baskets.  These tables were moved 3 times... outside, inside and back out... because we were so unsure about the weather.

The napkin rings were made with toilet paper rolls.  We cut them into thirds and attached the ribbon, then slid the napkins through.  (yes, scott's mom's idea)

Thanks to Laura Money of Coco and Paper for making this "Happy 1st Birthday" banner.  My friend Lauren of jlaurenphotography made some birthday pictures of Anna Scott a couple of weeks prior so that I would have them to use with the banners.

Food table...

Gaye Mims prepared the food.  It was delicious!

Candy table (a favorite for sure)...

Granny made her famous divinity!  :)

Scott's mom made these marshmallow suckers.

Cakes were from Olexa's.

Pastry Art cake bites (bottom row of three tiered stand) are a must!  Scott's mom did a wonderful job on the peanut butter and lemon powder balls.

Before the marshmallow floats were filled...

and after...

Scott's mom made the floats and these sweet pinwheels.

The "my year" table displayed all of the special items from Anna Scott's first year.

My mom got her this sweet booty when she was born.

Anna Scott got so many wonderful gifts!  A few of her favorites were:  the refinished rocking chair that you can barely see here (she had some of her birthday pics in it) that was Scott's great aunt's when she was a baby,

this National Championship football signed "To Anna Scott" by Nick Saban from Patsy and LaVohn,

her cozy coup from the Whitt family,

her "Laney Rover" wagon from GG,

and this beautiful frame from my parents.

There's the birthday girl with her "watch me grow" banner.

Scott's mom made this banner, and it turned out so precious.

Celebrating with Mommy and Daddy

and with her cousins (in their pink shirts!)

and with Aunt Allison

and with Mama D (Scott's mom)

and with GG

and with Aunt Sandra and Granny

This is my grandmother (Anna Scott's GG) in the middle, her sister (Aunt Sandra) on the left, and their mother (Granny) on the right.  Great picture.

It's almost time for BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!

She was so sleepy and lasted for about one second in the chair...

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!!!!

She was better once the cake was in front of her.

Anna Scott had lots of friends at her party!

Celebrating with Granmama

Having a good time...

Party's over.

  4. What an appealing ideas of decoration! Will save this post for my niece's first birthday in few months. Heard a lot about mesmerizing San Francisco venues from my cousins and they also suggested us to book one for my engagement next month. Will surely pay them in a day or so and rush for further arrangements. Guest list is ready and will see decorations ideas online.
